Over the last nine years at Violet Flamingo I have created bespoke clothing
for the individual client. Throughout the years of creating bespoke pieces, I have gained so
much knowledge of how to pattern cut garments for all sizes, shapes and sexes and this is
something that I’m beyond proud of!
Violet Flamingo isn’t just a job, Violet Flamingo is my life!
I create quality garments because I truly understand first-hand how clothing can change and empower people. I want each of my clients to feel great in their VF pieces, so they feel they’re able to take on the world and look bloody fabulous whilst doing it!
I have developed this new made to order range to bring you free fitting, luxury pieces, that can be worn in a variety of ways, for years to come. When I approach making new designs I actually don’t sketch like most designers, I imagine shapes and forms on the body, how they will hang and how they will feel. Then my brain helps me work out how I can convert that into a flat technical pattern, which is then developed, pattern cut again and again to make the perfect finished piece. Over the years I’ve been strongly influenced by Japanese design, pattern cutting techniques and most of all my favourite garment, the kimono.
VF is here to make you feel wonderful, never save your pieces for best and wear them as many ways as possible. We need to feel fabulous every day, we’re only here once!
Made in the UK and being responsible flamingos!
It's always been important to me to keep the brand as conscious as possible. When I say conscious, what I mean is I do my absolute best to minimise the brand's impact on the world around us.
I manufacture all of my products within the UK, either in the VF studio or at my approved sister factories, I then keep the transportation of the materials and finished items to a minimum. As a brand, saying you're conscious is not something that’s checked off on a list, every day you make decisions for the company to help consider your impact, VF will always endeavour to do so.
Violet Flamingo is based in Ebor Studios, Littleborough. Ebor is a fabulous space which
is home to a variety of artists and makers, we all inspire each other every day and
collaborate on creative projects together, such as the digital print scarves in the online
store! Ebor hosts a variety of events as we have a fabulous gallery space and a community
garden, visit Ebor Studio for more information.
Believe it or not VF only has two members of staff! I was actually on my own for the first six years juggling all the jobs in the studio, but three years ago my university friend Em joined the team. Em’s role within the business is providing you with all the social media updates, Facebook Live events and generally keeping me in check!
