How the brand was born
After completing my fashion degree in 2005, I chose to stay up North and began working for an independent fashion brand. I remained there for seven years, developing my skills and gaining invaluable industry experience. During this time, my passion for creating never stopped. Most evenings, I would go home and continue sewing, designing and making unique pieces to wear out to bars and clubs on the weekends.
I lived for making and partying! Shop-bought clothing didn't inspire me—I wanted to wear outfits that truly stood out, garments no one else owned, tailored perfectly to my shape. It wasn’t long before my friends began asking me to make pieces for them too. Many of them were plus-size, and back then, the market for stylish, well-fitting clothing in larger sizes was practically non-existent. We would go out together, dressed in my designs, looking incredible—turning heads wherever we went. As a group, we looked and felt on fire!
Soon, people started asking us where we got our clothes. That was the moment I decided to take the leap. I chose the brand name Violet Flamingo, had my first business cards printed, and began freelancing my skills while continuing my day job at Kevan Jon. Over time, circumstances changed at Kevan’s, and I faced a decision—work for another company or take the plunge and commit to Violet Flamingo full-time. I chose the latter, and I’ve never looked back.
Creating bold, unique garments has always been my passion, but making sure I can offer those designs to everybody—regardless of size or shape—is what truly drives me. At Violet Flamingo, fashion is about celebrating individuality, empowering people to feel amazing in what they wear, and ensuring that everyone can access bespoke, beautifully made clothing.

Designing, pattern cutting, and making clothing has been my passion for over 20 years, and Violet Flamingo is truly my life!
I’ve created countless made-to-order garments and accessories and through this journey, I’ve developed a deep understanding of pattern cutting for all sizes, shapes, and sexes—something I’m incredibly proud of.
At Violet Flamingo, my focus has always been on crafting limited-edition pieces that make my customers feel fabulous and unique. Each piece is made using the highest quality materials and trims, designed to stay in your wardrobe for years to come.
A Conscious Approach
Every piece is made to order, with a delivery timeframe of 3–6 weeks. Fast fashion is devastating our planet and exploiting workers, but as a small independent brand, I am committed to a more mindful way of creating. By producing only what is needed, I reduce waste and ensure every garment is made with care and purpose.
Inclusive Sizing
Every piece at VF Studio is thoughtfully designed, pattern-cut, and handcrafted to order. Our standard size chart ranges from 6 to 20, but we gladly accommodate custom sizes upon request at no extra charge. No matter your size, height, or gender, we’ll create a perfectly tailored piece just for you. Get in touch to bring your vision to life!
Limited edition drops
On the last Thursday of every month, I launch a new limited-edition collection in our private Facebook group. I go live to showcase the new items, discuss fabrics, demonstrate how they move, and share care instructions. It’s also the perfect time for VF updates and for me to answer any questions you have about the brand.
Items from these drops are added to the website the following Sunday. However, super-limited pieces often sell out quickly, so joining our live stream is the best way to secure your favorites.
